I've been watching the weather reports for the past few weeks with rather more focus than usual as I listened to the words they used to descirbe things. I came to two very interesting conclusions.

1. No matter how hot the day is, even if it beats record highs and is causing drought, a sunny day is always "Nice".

2. This bothers me a lot more than I thought. It seems to be ingrained in the language. Anyone says "nice day", everyone assumes it's sunny.

What is it that says that a rainy day can't be nice? Surely if we are having issues with drought the nice days are those when it rains and refreshes the country?

I personally love the rain. If I had a raincoat I'd be out in it whenever I could. Last summer during the tail end of the year when it was really hot, the moment it rained I was out the door and dancing in it. Who cares about the strange looks from the neighbours? I want to feel the rain trickle down my face and wash me clean. I like the smell of rain and the newness of the world it washes over.
Without rain we would not have the greenery that we so often admire.

You can have your lovely days of Summer with sun and heat. I will always dance in the rain.
