Is it me?

Ok, why does it always have to be so hard with delivery people? I get a card, I call them and tell them that of course there is no point in delivering my parcel home as I am not in between 9-5. They say fine, well hold it for you...

I go there on my lunch break to pick it up and damn it! That guy couldn't pick up a pen and make a note not to try to redeliver it?

So now I've wasted 45mins going there and back with nothing to show for it and I have to go again after work, hoping the driver makes it back to the depot before me!

Now I love the Post Office even if their website has become almost completely taken over by things not postal. What I like best is the fact that the delivery depot is only 20mins from my house so if I don't get my parcel straight away, at least it wont be much of a chore to fetch it. Only once have I had to go to the Parcel Force place nearest me and that is on the same road in one of the post offices.

What I hate is third party delivery. Not because they aren't efficient, safe or careful when it comes to deliveries; no, I hate them because it's always a huge palaver to get the parcel. Why? Because the only time they deliver is between 8-5, mon-fri when nobody who has a working week is at home unless they are ill. So they either think that everyone is a business or unemployed...

But my irritation about that in general pales in comparison to Expandthis )

Fingers crossed I'll have my parcel tomorrow.

EDIT: OK now I'm really annoyed. Ive just realised that this parcel is the set of iceskates my brother ordered. I really feel like wringing his neck now. All that effort and it's not even mine.

Ok I will be the first to admit that I'm kind of a pushover. So laid back I'm horizontal. If something is wrong I don't tend to complain.

However I have to draw the line somewhere and today will be it. I usually find the postman is a nice fellow. Someone who does his best to get the post to me and place parcels in convenient spots when not in (usually the parcel depot). But this time we ended up with the short straw and he/she did not do as I expected.

Can anyone explain to me the thinking behind this bright spark who thought it would be a good idea to FOLD an A4 Jiffy bag WITH contents and put it through a letter box that normally they wont even put DVDs through?

No? Ah well I'm off to the depot to give them a piece of my mind. I might get compensation, though I doubt it (there was no do not bend written on it) but at least they wont do it again when it might be something worth a whole lot more and slightly less resilient. Fortunately for me only one of the items got permanently marked. Apologies to [livejournal.com profile] lucian_albrecht whose gifts it was that were in the bag but I think most of it seems fine.
