So I've been spending a pleasant day at work...not really doing much work. I mean there is only so much you can do to stretch 3 calls for 6 hours especially if all they are is password resets. I've also noticed that msn has less people on it on Sunday.

So instead I've been writing on one of my stories and trying to describe a sport/artform that I rather admire but am very certain I could never perform; Parcours or Freerunning. My own performance at this is more due to lack of physical fitness than any ability. I know my reflexes are good enough but I'm not stupid enough to think I'm strong enough to do half of what they do.

Anyway I spent my morning plotting out how to cross a city by any means possible and at very high speed. To help me with this I've been watching Banlieue 13 or District 13 to give it it's English name. (On a side note it bothers me that the disk did not have an option to watch the French with French subtitles - Paying attention to two languages at once just distracts me). It certainly helped show what you can and can't do and how to ensure things work out. That part is the easy bit. The hard part is taking this very visual thing and describing a full pelt mad cap rush through a city in words. Now I've read a lot of books and I've written quite a bit but boy this is tricky.

It's not a case of just saying they moved from building to building. It's explaining how they put feet to the wall, scramble for grip, scuttle up a pipe, before vaulting a fence and dropping themselves off the other side, legs bending and absorbing the fall. It's fast, it's dangerous and you only stay safe when your mind is several steps ahead and it's proving to be a challenge to write. A fun one, but still a challenge.

Yes it's Christmas Eve and yes I'm posting to my lj late on said day almost on Christmas Day. I can't help it. I'm awake and writing because the infernal plot bunnies decided that watching Ella Enchanted was an excuse to be evil and give me ideas.

Now for those that haven't seen Ella Enchanted it's a lovely bit of schmaltz about a girl given the gift of obedience and the trouble this causes in a sort of Cinderellaesque story.

Anyway I then started to think about wishes and well things got out of hand in my brain after that as I considered gifts and abilities that don't quite work out as planned. So my brain took a nice fluffy fairytale idea and turned it as dark as the original things tend to get...

If I finish it I will mention it. If you feel like reading it I will take note and send it on when I am done.

So I have two days in lieu of the weekend that I am working. That's tomorrow and Friday just so you know. I've decided (now that I'm healthy and full of random energy) to create a list of things I really need to do and see how far I get. I'm putting it up here for general amusement and the fact that I can't lose this page but never find that scrap of paper I wrote things on. So in no particular order...

Cut for waffly length )

Right we'll see how far I get

If only because [livejournal.com profile] tusenord would help ensure that my artificer character ended up in a dress. I'm not sure if it's possible for her to carry out that threat but I'm not taking any chances.

That said it's not too much of a mental leap, I'm just exchanging noble houses for Gang-cop gangs and one insane Head of house for one insane gang leader...

Right time for me to get Ixa into the trouble I plan on getting her out of.

I can't believe it...It's not possible for me to have imagined editing everything. At least I don't think it's possible. I'm rather doubting my uhm... well insanity?

I have this story that I know I've edited up until a certain point in the story. I remember removing the ending so that I would completely rewrite it but I can't find the file anywhere. I've searched my entire computer and usb pen and well ok not my external harddrive but I can't see me really saving it there...and not [livejournal.com profile] choccoweeble's computer, that would just be obsessive of me... and you can all see me doing it once I get home can't you? :P

I'd just gotten into the right frame of mind to finish my first full edit of it too. Grrr now I have to start again. See me grumble...So volunteers for reading the edited (not finished) version when I'm done?

I feel like I haven't posted anything for ages. Which is probably true as I've had a headache for a long while that obviously is not condusive to sitting infront of a screen.

However I thought now that I have a few moments I would jot down a few words inbetween my crazy crafting and Maelstrom Panic.

I've as stated before had great success with my loosing weight. I hit the 10 kilo mark last thursday (that's about 1 stone 8 lbs for you people who don't know kilos).

So I thought I best make sure that my maelstrom stuff didn't need adjusting. The tunic had been fitted just before the last event but seemed fine.
It never occured to me that I might have huge problems with my armour until I decided to check it just to be on the safe side.

Oh my! A few good swings of my arm and the shoulder piece slides loose and I'm looking at tightening ALL the straps. Armour that fit perfectly on me last event is now tightened as much as the straps will allow and just end up tight enough. I can forsee me having to make major adjustments when I loose more weight. Ah well, it's a price I'm willing to pay.

I'm also at the same time trying to work out the plot for a story that involves more indepth looks at the phsycology of the human mind than I had intended. I'm also not a sociologist so have to look at that as well. Now if I could just decide on what the plot will actually be...

Not quite like toilet humour but funny in its own right.

It was freezing when I went into the bathroom yesterday. So cold that it was like using an outdoors loo. Apparently this had irked someone else so much that propped up behind the tap was a lovely printed note with a poem on it.

This poem extolled the virtues of being warm when using the facilities and pointed out that closing the window was the key. That and people not opening it again and thereby ruining the effort made.

Though I can't see why anyone should go to the effort to write a poem about it, I do think writing just for the sake of it is great. :) So a big thumbs up to whoever did it.

p.s. I really don't mind if the toilet is warm or cold...just as long as it works.

THat's right folks I've uploaded more stories to elfwood. So for those that want to take the time to read them and comment they can do so. Simply follow the link

I'm starting to feel a sense of the inevitable at the moment. Something in my life has to give. It's just a question of whether it will be my health, my sanity or something else...

My Dilemma, cut for longwinded explanation )

At least one good thing right now is that I have finished my first draft of project 20 for the Herscher Project. Now to the editing.

So as my previous entry explained Dusty died on Saturday which was a rather bad start to the weekend. Once I had got my even keel back again I decided to continue with my plans for the day that involved a trip to Ikea. This trip was mainly to get hold of the Christmas stock that mum had informed me would now be in store.

I needn't have bothered )

I zoomed home annoyed... and just collapsed for the rest of the day, typing on my Herscher Project entry about mirrors.
We had a touching enterment for Dusty as it got dark before heading to bed.

Sunday was a hive of activity as K decided to pack away Dusty's space station and all the hamster food. If anyone needs hamster food (includes treats) and sawdust/bedding we have some left over and are happy to pass it on.
We then used the table he had been on to move the stuff that usually clutters the dining room table. I then got a phonecall warning me that [livejournal.com profile] midnightoak, [livejournal.com profile] lucian_albrecht and [livejournal.com profile] maviscruet would be stopping in later.
Already in the cleaning swing we blitzed the living room and made a trip to Homebase to pick up a new bookshelf (something we had been meaning to do for a while). A reshuffle of DVDs, games and books later and colour me surprised but we actually had shelf space left for any random books we locate.

I worked on the brake light to my car that wasn't lighting (due to rust) and noticed a peculiar motorbike across the road. It was orange and covered in Sheep. I took a photo as proof and [livejournal.com profile] midnightoak, [livejournal.com profile] lucian_albrecht and [livejournal.com profile] maviscruet can back me up. They saw it too.

That evening we then had two other friends round and they exclaimed over how neat the living room was... a bit too emphatically if you ask me. We played chez goth for the evening and chatted which was lovely. Then I went to an early bed for the start of my two weeks of Early shift.

I haven't posted all week but have been meaning to... only thing is now it's not all fresh in my mind. I have had a busy week and not just physically. My brains been a bit haywire as well.

To explain my schedule so far has been

What I've Done - Cut for being long and rambley and not that exciting )

Feeling in need of some time off being me as the rest of my week is just as hectic

What I will be doing - also cut for rambliness and low interest factor )

I'd be looking forward to my weekend but that looks like organised mess as well. I think I need time off from being me. Christmas is looking awfully nice right now.

What Luck!

I decided to walk around town today while waiting for my hairdresser. Am in serious need of a trim. And on a whim chose to enter WHSmith. Events unfolded pretty much like this:

1. Wander into stationary section
2. Successful spot check around mechanical pencils!!
3. Text mum "I just found our pencil in WHS!! It's purple and costs 1.99"
4. She text me "Buy me five"
5. I replied "Ok five were all they had and I read the label wrong 2.99 each"
6. Mum's comment "Buy"
7. Mine "Bought!"

And so about fifteen minutes later (this time is due to the lovely assistant who went to find out if they had any more in the stock cupboard for me) I leave WHS with five new Ultimate RPG pencils!

The good news is they are finally available in Britain. The bad news I still don't have a new one and the hairdresser wasn't available so I still have floppy hair. On the good side new stock should come in and hopefully in more colours than Purple.
