So day three rolled on with me waking up during wierd hotel related dreams and a shadow created by pale green light shining on the coat hanger making it look like the angel of the north.

And the working day begins )

Trains and Buses )

5 million bicycles... )

Italy and Cornwall )

Red lights and Canals )

I spent the latter part of the evening watching dutch tele and saw the American series Over There which was quite interesting and a little disconcerting as a watcher of Supernatural as a certain blonde girl was one of the female soldier...At least I think it was her. Wrote a bit more and then slept...Day 4 here we come.

So I slept all right though the clock on the tv was very bright. Thankfully travelling with a small bear in my bag comes in handy and Sten stood between it and me for the rest of the night.

Breakfast was an interesting affair. It's not often I find myself having to pay 17 euros to eat what is essentially very much what you get at butlins, but with Dutch cheese. However sitting down to then be surrounded by a whole group who are travelling together just underlined how alone I felt. But at least I didn't go to work hungry.

The Work side of things )

Food issues )

Back in my hotel room I suddenly realised that they had completely replaced all the toiletries in the bathroom. How could I tell when I hadn't really used them? It was a different colour scheme. I started off in lilacs and was now presented with green and orange. I spent the evening watching Dutch tv again. In fact there is a soap that runs just before the CSI episodes that I am dying to work out the plot for as it seems very emotionally charged at the moment. I am starting to see why people sit watching them in foreign languages in sitcoms now. I also wrote with pen and paper, which was very relaxing. But tomorrow I am definately going to Amsterdam. Boredem is not fun.

It's odd the feelings you have waiting for a trip, which you have not organised youself. Mostly I just felt nervous. Like [livejournal.com profile] midnightoak I am a nervous traveller much more settled once I'm on the way and can no longer influence the possibility of forgetting something.

Getting to the plane )

Reaching the hotel )

Roll on Day two

PS Now watching crimewatch as I prepare to fall asleep...

So I am off on a business trip next week. Leaving Monday evening (27th) and returning Friday lunchtime (1st).

It will be the first official all expenses paid business trip and the only one I will do before I change my job.

Anyhow this means I will be in Amsterdam, to be more precise Schipol, with nothing to do in the evenings. So any ideas are helpful. I will be on my own so I need things I am confident doing on my own or a chaperone ;)
