A Very Muscial Weekend

So another weekend round up as I tried to steer clear of my computer during the weekend due to the head cold I'd been sporting. Computer induced headaches when I really should know better...
Anyway it was mum's birthday on saturday so we decided to go with her to the Moo MOO, as we affectionately call it. That's the Musical Welsh Aliens that kidnapped
midnightoak for those that read
lucian_albrecht's journal.
The day started off badly (as I was headache full, had no paracetamol, and gave in and drove). The rain was falling in the usual lovely Welsh way... but I could only focus on keeping my headache at bay. Once we got to mum's however I was fed medication and told I didn't have to drive until that evening. Yeah!
The GPS brought us to a stop in the middle of a country road with no Mansion in sight and, as we continued on, took us into the great unknown that is the part of it's map that has no roads on it. Such a lovely mansion it is, just a shame about the antiques dealer that got his hands on it before the new people took over.
The day started with the Jazz band complaining of tiredness and us getting a rather impromptu concert from Otto Freudenthal, Linus Flogell and Magdalena Nasdilak. The whole thing done with much humour and cheer as Linus reprised songs he had sung earlier in the week and Magdalena and Otto played the piano. K's comment "That Polish composer must have had issues"... We all loved it though.
We had a break for lunch before returning to the room. Magdalena was back (Now in a dress instead of the jeans) and was accompanied by Karin Norlen on the Viola. A wonderful redition of a sonata which (as I am horribly bad at classical music) I don't remember the name of. It did inspire a story though after the random "What's the difference between a Violin and a Viola?" "The Viola players complain more?" "They burn for longer..."
After that we had a musical operetta/musical theatre thing...There's a place for US (Ok the link is to the photo that shows all the people in that ensemble). This was a lovely affair with the dancing with bananas and other hilarities that told the tale of Swedish immigrants to America. This was then followed by a summer serenade with Irene Cooper and Marilyn Minns with Simon Marlow on piano. Which was a lovely mix of songs that by the end were really vibrating the ear drums. Opera singers really do have some powerful lungs. Favourite non-musical moments of that rendition. My dad giving the chandelier a nervous glance as they hit some high notes... and Irene Cooper stating "We will now have two Swedish songs that I will sing in Norwegian" (Swedish Composer)
Other notable comments from the day were having random conversations with all these people (Mum has apparently been dragging Linus out for walks when the singing allowed) and some one smiling at me and going "You've cut your hair." "uhm I think You've met my sister..."
midnightoak seems to have been making her presence known...
We ended the day, after the wet dark drive home with K going to see Murphy armed with a torch.
So I got up and watched my video form the night before. My usual tactic, of putting on her computer, got K downstairs in less then 5 mins. I swear she has a wireless link to it so knows I've logged on. She then wheedled a promise of my help with Murph by bribing me with wearing the Doctor Who Oil skin again... What can I say sometimes little things please me...
Of course I then realised that I had to do the poo picking again. It's not a glamorous job, but someone's got to do it. Ah well I put on my wellies and mucked in.
Then K decided to do some Lunging with him as she had not been able to ride him the day before. So tacked up and with a big whip we headed to the school. Murph was a little fresh and when K dropped the lead rope by mistake he ran like a lunatic. K eventually caught him when he got bored. Then to my surprise she said "Right I'm going to teach you to lunge." She brought me over and told me where to hold the whip for the different commands and then stepped away with me now attached to the huge horse that thinks I'm strange and doesn't listen to me much...
However it seems he decided to play nice and followed most of my commands to the letter. (part of this may have been due to the fact that K had worked off his energy). He didn't canter for me but then K has a hard time getting him to canter. He did however walk, trot and stand for me... I've learnt a new skill, I'm sooo happy even though it made me very dizzy to start with.
I then spent the rest of the day cleaning my tea supply and relaxing before I had to go to bed for an early start.
