Well getting through to your flight with anything worthwhile to do is going to get harder as this New List of items you are allowed to bring has suddenly put in place, as security is increased at the airports again.

** For those travelling with an infant: baby food, milk (the contents of each bottle must be tasted by the accompanying passenger) and sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight (nappies, wipes, creams and nappy disposal bags)

So for all those parents hoping to kill off their kids during the flight be warned...you may die first.

At least it's consistient now, although the fact that you have to cope with the supplied drinks and no reading matter is a bit dreadful.

It has always been a bit odd that they take nail clippers away from you and then allow you to buy large glass bottles of booze, which is much more use in a fight. Particulary if you have an oily rag and a lighter.

All passengers must be hand searched, and their footwear and all the items they are carrying must be X-ray screened

Consistent! It's going to take forever! And how does this affect the "you have to pay for hold luggage" issue I wonder?
And now forcing you to pay ridiculous amounts for food that would only feed your gerbil...unless you are already on a more expensive flight of course...
So, the train to Europe, how much will that be again?

I understand the liquids thing, explosive elements etc, but then agree with the booze statement made above.

not to mention now I come to think of it, as a girl you will be broadcasting your period to the world with your "unboxed" tampons and pads for the journey carried in a see through plastic bag which the staff have to search and x-ray...as if you didn't feel selfconcious enough...

Still, we'll all be safer right?

although the measures may only be temporary...but certainly I have nothing against hand luggage being x-rayed...how did they miss the devices?

My, possibly totally erroneous, suppostion is that the 'foiled' plot was based on explosive/corrosive liquids. e.g. One 2l pop bottle of concentrated acid, one bottle of bleach = rather exothermic reaction that gives off a toxic gas.

ergo, no drinks for you.

For example.

I figured it could be that. But I wasn't complaining so much about the bottle restriction...

I wonder if this is why Ryan Air made sure we have to pay for anything but hand luggage? They might have a secret arrangement with the british governement... *spotting plots*
I, too, vote for the train.

Don't get too enthusiastic about trains though. If they realise you actually want to use the train, they'll start piling restrictions on them too :)
