And I lost...

I finished HP 7 on Saturday and I will tell no one my comments unless asked.
choccoweeble shouted out the inevitable "I win, haha" followed by "the Dance of Joy" (tm) around 7.30ish.
However I don't mind too much I feel slightly vindicated by the fact that I was only 36 pages from the end at that point.
The evening was nice with friends round and the question was asked "which character do you like best?"
I really wasn't certain, I knew that I really didn't like Harry (I don't care if evertone else does he just annoys me) but not who was my favourite. I did eventually go with Luna Lovegood as her personal brand of insane is great to me. This was further enforced when we went to watch HP5 on Sunday. Yes, Harry is as annoying in the film as in the book (
choccoweeble happily stating that she did still want to slap him) but at least you have to sit through much less of him being annoyed so it's bearable.
Anyway to Luna, the film really did cement her as my favourite closely followed by Tonks. I seem to like the quirky ones best. ;)

Date: 2007-08-06 03:52 pm (UTC)Did you know that American film critics thought the Luna character acting was poor? I can't remember the exact details, but what they criticized the actress for was the staple of the character. It was clear they didn't read the book, because they would have known she was supposed to to be way out in space loony. Just further cements why I don't listen to art critics.

Date: 2007-08-06 04:04 pm (UTC)Critics are so often very very mistaken about things. I thought the actress made Luna exactly like I imagined her to be, even though the scottish accent was a bit of a surprise. Way out in space loony is a good description of her.

Also, Spinner's End written like it's in the post-industrial North somewhere.

**SPOILERS PRESENT**
Date: 2007-08-06 10:01 pm (UTC)As to the last book - what did you think of the last chapter? I was kind of pleased she let us know they were all getting on fine, but only the bits I could have predicted anyway were really revealed. I think I would have preferred a more detailed finish - who ended up as headteacher? after all that careers talk going on pages and pages over two books, what did they all end up doing? (aside from Neville and he was probably the most obvious after Harry's clearly stated ambition)
Re: **SPOILERS PRESENT**
Date: 2007-08-07 06:54 am (UTC)I personnally wasn't fond of the 19 years later bit. It was very bare and held no info that I thought was of interest except maybe the names of the kids (just to see who they had honoured).
Apparently though there is talk of an almanac, encyclopedia type thing that would give us the missing details for everyone. We'll just have to see.
