For those that have seen/read Read or Die the whole Agent Snow thing will make a little more sense. I dreamt I had special powers last night. My power, to manipulate snow into any shape and function.
I was with a group of rebels. I have no idea what we were rebelling from I think we were just a group outside of some government and therefore able to act independent. In truth we were a bunch of kids. (Though I was 'The Snow' -.^ )

We spent a lot of time talking about this hospital that we needed to infiltrate, for what reason I never did find out. Though a whole wing had been closed down recently "due to cut backs".
Then this guy turned up from the organisation that I had originally been part of and started to go off on this rant about how the whole group was weak and that I wasn't letting my complete snow potential out, instead blocking it by wearing some silly gloves. This was also the moment my brain decided to tell me that I had been a very evilesque type character who had become good but still struggled with the dark part of me (Sort of like Xena *sigh*). I was psychotically making snowballs throughout his speech and eventually pelted him when I got fed up of the rant.

Time for the showdown. He then challenged me to a snow duel (he being a master of snow too). I agreed and moved us to a bit where the snow was melting. He started to from a ball and I started making hand gestures.
Sometimes my dreamself decides to change the rules at the wrong moment and I had to larp it. I 'pretended' to create a snow thing and throw it. (Obviously I was moving invisible snow due to lack of an effects department). My opponent just laughed at me and said that's terrible. I pointed out that there was something happening he just had to imagine it >.< So I tried again (Cue [livejournal.com profile] midnightoak to the rescue in her one and only moment in my dream) and [livejournal.com profile] midnightoak picked up some snow and pelted him round the back of the head with it. Now this would have been funny enough but my opponent just had to sardonically say "Impressive" reducing my mind to fits of giggles.

He then joined us as we then teleported into the hospital to find ourselves in the abandonned wing, where we promptly found out why. Huge hulking Army medic Zombies. My faith in my snow powers shattered by both the lack of any actual snow and the realisation that it was a Larp power I just told everyone to run for it. The zombies acted just like the zombie nurses in Silent Hill, seeming to be stock still but then moving slightly. They had blood all over them and huge gashes from where they had been sliced. I can only hope we survived as I woke up.

I'm starting to feel a sense of the inevitable at the moment. Something in my life has to give. It's just a question of whether it will be my health, my sanity or something else...

My Dilemma, cut for longwinded explanation )

At least one good thing right now is that I have finished my first draft of project 20 for the Herscher Project. Now to the editing.

So K decided she was going to watch the Grand Prix this morning at 5 o'clock. It's her prerogative to do so but did result in me waking up at the same time and then having to fall asleep again. Not a feat I am very good at. It also tends to produce strange and random dreams and this one gives the others a run for their money...

Somehow it all made sense...I think )

We went round to friends for a Sunday roast. My v-slice was very popular making the preparation a lot faster than expected. I also liked the handheld food processor. My retelling of my dream was greeted with much amusement, especially when I checked Chris over for gills. We had a wonderful meal and afterwards went for a walk round the walls, past the old police house that looks like it should be in a disaster movie.

Everything hurts. My feet hurt, my shoulders hurt, my knees have bruises, my head hurts from strange sleeping patterns and my arms have sore red bits and a row of water blisters from my gloves...

For those not in the know Maelstrom was this weekend - the last event of 2006.

An Uneventful Weekend )

Edit to add new things I remember

Going under the hammer are a load of Star Trek memorabilia that (in my honest larpers' opinion) I can make at home...with a small aubergine!

Admittedly not all of them I can make at home but some and would look as cool but of course would not have the kudos of being from the actual show.

Not that I would make stuff but just look at the shines you can buy...

Oh and can anyone tell me why I am getting e-mails about online banking from a bank I don't use??? I'd be worried but it does seem to link to the correct site and all.
shazrasha: (jenkins beware)
...especially when I haven't been near any and it seems to be coming from outside. Not only was it coming from outside, there was no indication what was causing it. I could smell it in the air until I got halfway to work, when suddenly the smell changed to wood smoke. A much more pleasant odour in my opinion.

On a complete aside to that. I had this pound coin in my pocket that I found when we were at Maelstrom that was rusty from being out in weather for so long, thereby making it look like a penny in colour.
I got to work today without lunch and wondered how I would be able to afford the canteen. Now our lunch cards are topped up by machine...and it is actually a pound despite the lack of shininess. So I popped it in with a back up plan in mind in case it threw the coin back at me. Fortunately it was accepted and lunch could be bought.

Don't ya just love practical morality? Plus they'll never know it was me...

I've had a lovely weekend...mostly.

My Saturday started fine with berry picking and a bit of early morning fresh air. However it went a bit down hill as my brother, cousin and others decided to drag me into town at the warmest point of the day (I was wearing black). Not only was it a weekend, it was a race day so it was kind of busy.

Not my idea of fun. I wanted to hide in a dark cave practicing spelunking. However coming home I was given plenty to drink and raspberries. Raspberry season is started.

Sunday I barely moved. It was warm and sticky and my seaside fan with squirty bottle was used on and off all day. Even when I was about to sleep. Covers? Pah who needs them?

So Monday morning time to wake and go to work. Need to iron my shirt, make my lunch, get out of bed...AAAAAAaaah

The moment I sat up my head stopped but my brain kept going, then sloshed back the other way. I grabbed my stuff and wobbled my way to through my morning routine, forcing breakfast down me in the hope that it would help still the wooziness in my head. I then drove to work. I have now had at least 20 small cups of water and my lunch and ice cream (for the sugar) and I still feel woozy. I'm also skirting a headache.

Now I just hve to hope it will go away by tomorrow. or at least Wednesday, otherwise driving will be hell. At least I can look forward to Maelstrom even if I am not looking forward to boiling in the heat.

Sometimes you know you want to make an update and you just can't think what to write.

So I thought I would be really random. I was planning on saying how Maelstrom went but seem to be unable to explain beyond saying things like "and then is came running in a panic and dragons marched on Malathia and I was in the middle of this fight but couldn't join in as had no armour and..." so yeah coherency a bit of an issue.
I can proudly state that we are not dead yet and our website will be done, soon, I hope. I've had fun building it.

In other news I've had a serious spurt with updating Fallen. With three new chapters in one week. That's a records for me but then I hadn't added anything to it for a while so think they deserved it. I am trying to refrains from checking hits but it is such a rush to see the numbers rise. :P

Birds Eyes Powder )

And no I don't mean the fluffy yellow one from Sesame Street.

Shenanigans starts tomorrow and I am stressing like mad as I feel like I've forgotten something. K did an emergency dash to the stable for me to get her leather punch so all my sewing is done. Well except for one button, but I can do that on-site.

My emergency needle, glue and feather kit is ready. My batteries are charged. I will manage to get photos of things this time! I will!

Yet I still feel like I've forgotten something. Oh yeah my secondary character clothes. >.< I just better hope I don't die. Eek! OK mad dash once home to get semblance of outfit.

Technology free for a weekend. See you all Monday again.
shazrasha: (Default)
So I am now 5 days and counting to going to Maelstrom and I am rushing to get everything ready. Especially since reading the laws of the land that will take affect at Shenanigans.

My favourites crimes of the event being the Beer and Hospitality crimes )

So all this has me sewing like mad to finish my extra costume stuff. Extra pouches and such like. However this has involved a lot of sewing with a leather needle so I am now sporting various plasters and sewing related injuries to my hands again.

Ants )

I also got my Sandi Thom album today. It isn't out for general release until the 5th but I have paid for it and it is aaaaaaaaaaall mine. *cough* there are quite a few good tracks on this, the single non-withstanding. I especially like "when horsepower meant what it said" and "what if I'm right".

Right the Kilt is done! I am so happy, for two reasons. 1. The kilt does suit this guy and fits, 2. I can now go on to other things. Photo of the finished product will go up on flikr when I have the chance.

Now all I need to do is finish Spoon's outfit and I have done all the sewing projects that I promised. Apologies go out to Soraya; spoon was supposed to be done ages ago.

Fortunately [livejournal.com profile] midnightoak has given me a bit of motivation. If I can finish the outfit for spoon by 7 this evening she has promised to make the girdle book I want but have also yet to make.

This should then free me up to fix the problems with my Maelstrom outfit and make the Bullock pouch I designed in time for the next event.

So ready... set... sew!

OK so my run of Larp dreams is not yet over it seems as I had another one last night. At least this time I slept better. No hamsters escaping.

This time the place we were larping at least looked like where we had been. Though partway through (as people were queuing for God) it started to snow!

I walked with Jenna through the camp commenting on how I had to take some photos and how here I was hoping I wasn't going to boil to death when all of a sudden we are cold. My brain did point out to me that snow in June is nuts and promptly started to melt the stuff.

Elsewhere in real life I have almost finished the kilt and it is looking great, even if I do say so myself. Just edging to go - I promised [livejournal.com profile] midnightoak I would take photos and I will.

Also on my way to work today the roundabout I usually take was blocked by lovely police with a huge sheet thing up so something major must have happened. So a small detour later I (and my passenger Vincent) made it to work with 5 mins to spare. It is a good thing I know the roads so well.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that in my dream or just as I was falling asleep (hard to tell really) I worked out a cool design for a water flask that would work well with our straws if I could find someone to make them... the flasks that is.
shazrasha: (jenkins beware)
So there I am hoping to sleep well so I can get up for work at 6, when I wake and hear strange noises in the night.

It takes at least ten minutes for me to work out what it is. The scratching at the door giving it away. Dusty has escaped again. The time 3:47 :P

So having recaged him, I still do not get why he always makes a beeline for the bedroom when he does get out, I went back to a fitful dream filled sleep. And boy were these dreams wierder than the ones I normally get.

So I've started to comment on my writing on my LJ. I think this is probably the fourth time or some such. I never intended to comment about it here but hey. It's a journal and well writing is what I do when I can. So not mentioning it does leave out a big chunk of what I do.

Currently I'm focusing on a random pirate short and am having trouble not making my pirates sound like a bunch of boarding school dropouts. Trying to write an accent when you are used to trying to not write grammatical mistakes can grate a bit. I keep wanting to correct their speech :)

But I also said I would finish fallen 7. So with both files open I hope to get one of them done at some point. I can see the pirate thing taking a while though so fallen is likely to get done first.

Fingers crossed for both of them...

Maelstrom's first event of the year has come and gone. We as a group made a great impact both before and during the event as noone knew who we were.

Remembrance )

In an unrelated dream the night I came home - I was applying for a job at the post office. Where I was asked in for an interview. Things were going relatively well (despite my brain wondering why I wanted this job in the first place) when I was asked about my customer relations. I said they were good they decided to test them. By taking a phonecall as their secretary was inundated with calls. The caller was talking about computers and the gist of the conversation resulted in me giving him computer advice as it was unrelated to post and warning him to be more careful who he dealt with on ebay in future. I was then told off by the boss who thought I had not been as helpful and kind as she wanted. I looked at the other job applicants to see Jen waiting in the queue.

Strange and bizarre at least the dream I had last night was more fantasy story like... I just wish I remembered more of the plot.
shazrasha: (jenkins beware)
Well it was easy for me to work out what was on my mind last night as the only thing I dreamt about was larping and Maelstorm.

Larp Hell )

In other Larp related news, my hand now looks like I have chicken pox or some such after I sewed things onto my glove. Stretch material meant having to do it whilst wearing the glove. Leather needles are sharp...
shazrasha: (Default)
So as most of my nearest and dearest (and those that read this) know I have been working on my costume for Maelstrom. I have been mentioning my mask to [livejournal.com profile] midnightoak as I progress step by step. Once I am done with it I will put the pictures up on Flikr. However I have other parts of my costume to finish. And to show [livejournal.com profile] midnightoak how much, I am writing a list here.

Cut for length and Only Midnightoak would be truly interested )

On another note both K and I had strange dreams (as usual). Mine involved an island where we were ship-wrecked, a storm coming and the only shelter being cells that a mad man would lock us into, so he could use us in some strange experiment/tv game show. :P
K in her dream was however blackmailing us all. And boy did she find our weakness ;)

"Do as I say or I'll delete your LJs!"

EDIT: Just getting on with it.
shazrasha: (jenkins beware)
So I was chatting to [livejournal.com profile] midnightoak about her impending trip to Maelstroem over the weekend and was practically bullied into saying that I would come to one such event. Ok I admitt the bullying was very gentle as well "I want it 'cause I'm weak".

Now the event in question that she is going to takes place over the weekend of the 14th-16th April which is at the same time as K's birthday. So colour me surprised when K said that I was allowed to go, thereby missing her birthday entirely! I will be making it up to her but won't mention how here as I want it to be a surprise.

Anyway due to this I now have one month to make my outfit and fit into the idea of a race that they have supplied me. So I am now having random crafty ideas and have a shopping list that includes:

Feathers, mask, linen, boots/boot tops, wire for the papier mache beak, leather for random things, PVA glue and all of it black!! Well not the PVA but you get the idea.

So queue some interesting workarounds as I try to incorporate my glasses into all this (I'm not blind as a bat but more comfortable to my eyes to wear them), and try to make sure I don't broil.
Long sleeves + April + Sun + Black + Me = Broiled. I'll think of something.

Here's fingers crossed that it all goes to plan.
